Friday 23 August | 7:30pm
Cambridge Town Hall

In partnership with Chamber Music New Zealand

A unique blend of flute and percussion

The Cambridge Town Hall Community Trust is honoured to present the Darroch/DeHart Duo in partnership with Chamber Music New Zealand. Flautist Hannah Darroch and percussionist Justin DeHart bring their unique programme of contemporary and classic pieces to the Cambridge Town Hall.

The Darroch/DeHart Duo is dedicated to championing both new and classic pieces for flute and percussion. Known as engaging and highly-skilled musicians, their performances introduce audiences to the versatility and colour of their many instrumental textures.

On this six-centre national tour, Darroch and DeHart will perform a selection of dynamic and colourful works by American and New Zealand composers, featuring a diverse range of unique pairings such as piccolo and wood blocks, alto flute and marimba, and alto flute, bass drum and crotales.

Until her recent appointment as Chief Executive of SOUNZ, Centre for New Zealand Music Hannah Darroch was Principal Flute of the Christchurch Symphony Orchestra, and has taught flute at the University of Canterbury’s School of Music. She can be heard on a number of NZSO recordings including the soundtrack to The Hobbit. She also features on Frank Ticheli’s Pulitzer Prize-nominated work Songs of Love and Life recorded in the United States, and on Les Oiseaux, an album by French indie-pop band Les Passagers.

Justin DeHart is a GRAMMY-nominated performer of contemporary musical styles from classical to pop, world to electronic. He is a current member of Los Angeles Percussion Quartet and his talents have been featured at concerts around the globe.

Please note the doors will be open from 7:00pm for a 7:30pm start.
